Controls Systems Engineer
Location: Peterlee, United Kingdom
Duration: 12 Months
Pay: £35-38.58/ Hourly/Umbrella Inside IR35
This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing controls systems, ensuring robust performance of production equipment through software support, diagnostics, machine tuning, and validation activities within a fast-paced factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver controls and software support for manufacturing operations
- Diagnose and resolve equipment control system issues to minimise downtime
- Support commissioning, testing, and tuning of production machinery
- Develop a clear understanding of production procedures, analyse them, and drive continuous improvement
- Execute software updates, fault finding, and system optimisation
- Support validation and performance verification activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and maintenance teams
- Maintain accurate documentation of changes, testing, and issue resolution

Basic Qualifications
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline
- Experience in industrial control systems and automation
- Knowledge of embedded control systems
- Demonstrated capability in fault diagnosis and root cause analysis

Top Candidates Will Also Have
- Experience with Off-Highway Trucks (OHT) or heavy machinery
- Familiarity with Caterpillar systems or equivalent OEM environments
- Understanding of J1939 CAN/Ethernet communications, sensors, actuators, and real-time systems
