Controls Testing Technician
About the Role
The integration team at TAIT consists of technical experts and project leaders who plan, set up, commission, and handover innovative systems to clients on sites worldwide. The Controls Testing Technician ensures the technical planning, execution, and management of systems during the Phase Six factory integration period.
While not a primary member of a project’s core team, this role must collaborate effectively with project leads to guarantee each project is thoroughly tested, quality checked (QC’d), and prepared for deployment onsite.
Given the role’s extensive historical knowledge of a machine or system’s lifespan inception, the Controls Testing Technician is also expected to:
- Regularly engage with onsite teams to address questions.
- Occasionally mobilise to assist with commissioning and troubleshooting efforts.
Key Responsibilities
-
Project Coordination & Meetings
- Attend project coordination, kick-off, and lessons-learned sessions regularly.
-
Planning & Execution
- Develop testing, tooling, and logistics plans for factory commissioning.
- Lead by example, managing tasks and providing oversight for local labour during factory testing.
-
Materials Handling
- Receive, track, store, and manage inbound project materials for factory testing.
- Organise and batch project materials for both factory and site phases as needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
