Our Mission

At Rolls-Royce SMR, we're delivering a new generation of nuclear power technology to provide affordable, low-carbon energy for decades to come. Join us and help shape one of the UK's most exciting engineering programmes while contributing to a cleaner and more secure energy future.

The Team

You'll join the Conventional Health & Safety team within Engineering, working closely with design, project and regulatory teams to ensure safety is embedded throughout the development of the Rolls-Royce SMR power station. This is a highly collaborative role with the opportunity to influence major engineering decisions and support the delivery of a safe-by-design solution.

The Role

As a Conventional Health & Safety Senior Engineer, you'll help drive the identification, assessment and management of health and safety risks across the SMR design programme. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you'll provide practical safety guidance, support regulatory requirements and influence design decisions that reduce risk and improve safety outcomes throughout the asset lifecycle.

What We'll Need You To Do

  • Drive design risk management activities and ensure hazards are identified and addressed throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Facilitate hazard assessments and risk workshops, helping engineering teams develop practical and effective solutions.
  • Maintain and develop the conventional design risk register, ensuring actions and mitigations are appropriately managed.
  • Provide expert health and safety advice that influences design decisions and promotes best practice.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to support safety cases and regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Champion a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement across the programme.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
