Converting Operator Apprentice based Skelmersdale

Due to the shift pattern associated with this role (4 on, 6 off, including x2 12-hour days and x2 12 hour night shifts), applicants must be aged 18 or over.

About the apprenticeship

As a Converting Operator Apprentice, you'll earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in tissue paper converting operations while working towards a Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, with a typical duration of up to 15 months. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed for a future career as a Converting Operator.

You'll report directly to one of our experienced managers who will support your development throughout your apprenticeship and help you make the most of this opportunity.

As part of the Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience and develop skills in:

  • Health, safety and environmental practices
  • Quality and manufacturing principles
  • Tissue converting processes and equipment
  • Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Continuous improvement and problem-solving methods
  • Communicating technical information and identifying engineering equipment
  • Building productive working relationships with colleagues
  • Applying STEM knowledge in a manufacturing environment
  • Developing strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills

You will also:

  • Complete all on-the-job training, off-the-job learning and apprenticeship assessments
  • Progress through a structured competency programme for converting operations
  • Maintain your apprenticeship portfolio and attend regular reviews with your training provider and company mentors
  • Build the knowledge and experience needed for a successful career as a Converting Operator

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent Converting Operator position, subject to business needs and performance. From there, you'll have opportunities to further develop your career into senior operator, multi-skilled operator, technician, maintenance, or team leadership roles.

Requirements

You will have a minimum of 4 GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including Maths and English

  • You will be willing to learn and take a positive approach to problem solving

  • You will have great attention to detail
  • You will be a team player
