Residential Conveyancing Paralegal

📍 Basildon

💼 Full-time | Permanent | Office-based

💰 £26,000 - £30,000

We're working with a well-established legal firm, looking to recruit an experienced Residential Conveyancing Paralegal to join their busy Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous residential conveyancing experience to join a supportive and professional environment, providing hands-on support across a varied caseload and working closely with fee earners, clients, lenders, estate agents, and other third parties.

The Role

We are seeking a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal to support residential property matters from instruction through to completion and post-completion, ensuring transactions progress efficiently while providing a high standard of client service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing title documents, plans, leases, and management information in preparation of contract packs
  • Ordering, reviewing, and reporting on property searches
  • Reviewing mortgage offers and lender requirements
  • Raising, reviewing, and responding to pre-contract enquiries
  • Reporting to clients on enquiries and replies received
  • Preparing contracts, transfers, and mortgage deed documents for signature
  • Gathering source of funds information and reporting to the relevant fee earner
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, mortgage brokers, management companies, and other solicitors
  • Preparing draft completion statements
  • Preparing files for exchange and completion
  • Arranging completion monies and confirming completion
  • Submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax returns and dealing with post-completion requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with firm procedures, lender requirements, and SRA obligations
  • Assisting fee earners with effective caseload management

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within a residential conveyancing environment and be confident supporting matters through the conveyancing process. You will have:

  • Previous experience within residential conveyancing
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse legal documents carefully
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Good legal research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a busy conveyancing team
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
  • A good understanding of residential conveyancing processes, including exchange, completion, and post-completion requirements
