Residential Conveyancing Solicitor 2-5 PQE
Salary: DOE
Location: South Shields
Position Type: Full or Part-Time | Permanent | Office-Based
We are working with a well-established law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join its busy property team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with 2–5 years' PQE and solid residential conveyancing experience who is looking for a varied role within an established team.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of residential property matters, providing high-quality legal advice and excellent client service from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion.
The Role
You will be responsible for running a busy residential conveyancing caseload and dealing with a broad range of property transactions, including:
- Freehold sales and purchases
- Leasehold sales and purchases
- Remortgages
- Transfers of equity
- New-build transactions
- Shared ownership
- Right to Buy
- Help to Buy/shared equity matters
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Taking instructions from clients and progressing matters through to completion.
- Setting up files and undertaking relevant searches.
- Preparing contracts and dealing with pre-contract enquiries.
- Examining title and identifying technical title issues.
- Reporting to clients on searches, title, and other relevant matters.
- Processing mortgage offers and liaising with lenders and brokers.
- Preparing completion and redemption statements.
- Dealing with exchange and completion.
- Preparing Land Registry forms and handling registration matters.
- Managing post-completion work through to file closure.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage brokers, and other third parties.
- Preparing correspondence and legal documentation using case management systems.
- Progressing files proactively and using initiative to resolve issues within your level of expertise.
- Maintaining accurate and organised electronic and physical filing systems.
- Providing support to the Head of Department/Director with the management and progression of the wider caseload.
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients when required.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, contacts, and other professionals.
- Contributing to the team's wider business development activity.

About You
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent with between 2 and 5 years' PQE and proven experience in residential conveyancing. You will have:
- Strong experience running your own residential conveyancing caseload.
- An in-depth understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
- Good technical knowledge, including title issues.
- A proven track record of meeting income or billing targets.
- Excellent client-care and communication skills.
- Strong IT and case management system skills.
- Competent typing and document preparation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
- A proactive approach to progressing files and dealing with client queries.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and organized while working in a busy environment.
- A professional and friendly approach to client service.
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and professional obligations.
