Job Title

My client in North Yorkshire is a privately owned well established and profitable distribution group operating across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia.

As part of the management succession planning, the business is seeking a commercially focused COO to work alongside the CEO and help lead the next phase of growth.

Applications will be considered both from those seeking an assignment for up to 2 years to work on the specific phase of development, or candidates seeking a longer term situation.

This is a broad executive leadership role with responsibility for operational performance, strategic execution, governance, business transformation and organisational development.

The company operates a 1 day/week WFH policy and the role will involve some international travel. You will need to live within daily commuting distance of Scotch Corner as a pre requisite.

You will act as the CEO's principal business partner, ensuring alignment across multiple business units and supporting key initiatives including acquisitions, systems development, process improvement and international operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
