Ready to shape the COO agenda for Markets and Securities Services in Europe?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

As Chief Operating Officer for Markets and Securities Services (MSS) in Europe you’ll partner closely with the Regional MSS Head to deliver the MSS business strategy within risk appetite. This is a multifunctional COO role spanning business management, operations, non-financial risk, finance, compliance and transformation across a regulated environment. You’ll keep tight oversight of cost management and profitability while helping deliver future business capabilities through multi-year transformation plans. The role manages a central business management team and provides functional management for the HBUK COO and team while coordinating cross-Europe deliverables with the Continental Europe leadership team. You’ll represent MSS across global, regional and entity forums including regulation, people and transformation. Success means clear execution governance, strong operational controls, sustained cost outcomes and consistently high standards of client service including effective handling of major incidents.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
