About the role

Join Abbeyfield Monmouth, a welcoming retirement home located in the beautiful historic town of Monmouth, nestled in the heart of the stunning Wye Valley.

In this rewarding role, you'll help enhance residents' quality of life by preparing nutritious, appetising meals tailored to their dietary needs and preferences. You'll maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness while working closely with residents and colleagues to plan menus, encourage social interaction, and create a warm, community-focused environment.

Skills and Experience Needed

You'll bring previous catering experience gained in a commercial kitchen environment, along with a passion for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that make a positive difference to people's lives. An NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Food Preparation, Catering, or a related subject is essential.

You'll also have a good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and safe working practices, with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and compliance in the kitchen. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team will help you succeed in this rewarding role supporting older adults.

This is a 16 hour per week role and fixed term contract for 6 months, with a competitive salary, along with a great package designed to support you at work and beyond.

  • £26,318.29 per annum pro rata (FTE)
  • 26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 31 days with an extra day for each full year of service.
