Join Our Client’s Team – Cook role available!
Are you an experienced Cook looking for a part-time role or to join our client’s Catering Bank Staff?
They are seeking dedicated professionals to join their team. If you have the experience, they want to hear from you!
Location: Heavers Resource Centre, Croydon, SE25 6LL
Positions Available:
- Cook
- 13 hours per week; Friday (8am – 3pm) and alternating Saturday and Sunday (8am – 3pm)
- Temporary cover for 6 months with possibility of extending further
- Bank Staff – Multiple positions available to join the Catering Bank Staff as a Cook
Salary: £14.29 per hour (rising to £14.79 per hour after a successful probation of 5 months)
About Our Client
Our client provides high-quality housing, care and support for the elderly, with a strong reputation for delivering safe, comfortable and supportive homes. The catering team are responsible for delivering prepared meals in line with Hygiene and Health and Safety standards.
The Role
You will work as part of an experienced and committed catering team at Heavers Resource Centre, as instructed by the Chef.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist in the development of new menu items, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
- Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
- Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation, ensuring consistency across all dishes.
- Assist with special events or catering services as required.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
- Catering experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare a wide range of dishes.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
- A passion for cooking and creating innovative meal options for tenants.
- Professional and the ability to work with various backgrounds and cultures.

Desirable Experience:
- Health and Safety / COSHH training certificate.
- Food Safety Level 2 or 3, with a willingness to be further trained.
