Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- An advanced degree (MSc or higher) in marine fisheries or a related field
- Experience with database management
- Excellent scheduling and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated understanding to plan, implement, and execute (remote) marine field work
- Demonstrated ability with various field sampling techniques, especially the deployment and maintenance of hook-and-line and long line fishing gear from small vessels
- Extensive experience with marine animal capture and handling
- Proficiency acoustically and satellite tagging of large fishes
- Working knowledge of social media platforms
- MOTC or equivalent training
- Current First-Aid and CPR certification
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant professional experience effectively managing field and laboratory programs.
- Proficiency in coding and programming experience in R and with command-line interfaces.
- Working knowledge of current field and laboratory equipment for the study of marine fishes and environments
- Ability to problem-solve on the fly
- AAUS scientific diving certification
Working Conditions/Schedule
This position will require work outside of typical hours and conditions. The incumbent will be expected to work for periods at sea as well as some evenings and weekends. They may be asked to travel as needed for field work. The ability to work at sea and work outdoors throughout the Pacific Northwest will be required.
