Copilot Strategy & Governance Consultant | Microsoft AI
Hybrid | London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow
I’m currently recruiting for a Copilot Strategy & Governance Consultant to join a leading global business and technology transformation consultancy, working with major organisations across the UK.
The organisation works across sectors including government, financial services, insurance, energy and retail, helping clients use technology, data and AI to solve complex business challenges and deliver meaningful transformation.
This is a client-facing consulting role focused on helping organisations develop their Microsoft Copilot strategy, governance and operating model. You’ll work at the intersection of technology strategy, AI governance, risk and business transformation, helping clients understand how to scale Copilot safely and responsibly.
The role
You’ll work closely with senior business, technology, risk, security and compliance stakeholders to establish the strategy and governance needed to support the adoption of Microsoft Copilot and wider workplace AI.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing Microsoft Copilot strategies aligned to business objectives, technology capabilities, security, data and automation
- Advising senior stakeholders on Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, Copilot Studio, Agent Builder and the wider Microsoft AI ecosystem
- Designing AI governance frameworks, guardrails and operating models that enable organisations to adopt Copilot safely and at scale
- Helping clients establish the policies, controls and processes required to manage AI effectively across the organisation
- Advising on areas including responsible AI, data protection, permissions, risk management and agent lifecycle management
- Working with risk, security, compliance and technology leaders to develop an appropriate governance approach
- Leading client workshops to understand current capabilities, risks and requirements and define future-state approaches
- Leading Copilot strategy and governance workstreams, managing delivery, risks and complex stakeholder situations
- Translating rapidly evolving AI technology into practical recommendations and decisions that senior leaders can act on
- Developing frameworks and approaches to measure the benefits and business value of Microsoft AI
- Supporting clients with the wider governance considerations associated with Generative AI and Agentic AI
- Building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and providing clear, credible advice
- Supporting bids, proposals, RFPs and wider business development and solution shaping
- Contributing to the development of the wider AI and Copilot consulting proposition
- Coaching and supporting colleagues while helping to build the team's capability

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines AI strategy, governance and consulting experience with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
You'll ideally have:
- 4+ years' consulting experience, ideally within a major consulting or professional services environment
- Experience delivering digital transformation, technology strategy or AI-related consulting engagements
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Copilot and the wider Microsoft AI ecosystem
- Practical experience with AI governance, responsible AI, data protection, permissions and risk management
- Experience designing or implementing governance frameworks, operating models, policies or controls within large organisations
- Confidence engaging senior stakeholders across technology, risk, security and compliance
- Strong workshop facilitation, communication and presentation skills
- Experience translating complex technical and AI concepts into clear business recommendations
- Experience leading consulting workstreams or cross-functional teams
- Experience contributing to business development, proposals or consulting sales activity
- Understanding of Generative AI and Agentic AI, including the associated risks and governance considerations
- Relevant Microsoft, AI, technology or governance certifications would be advantageous
- SC cleared or SC eligible candidates are particularly encouraged to apply

Location & travel
Office locations are available in:
- London
- Bristol
- Manchester
- Newcastle
- Glasgow
You can select the office location closest to you.
As this is a client-facing consulting role, you'll need to be comfortable travelling when a project requires it. This will typically be around 1–2 times per month, depending on the client and project.
Some assignments may require additional travel or time working from a client site, so flexibility is important.

This role sits beyond pure technology implementation. You'll be helping clients answer some of the key questions around how AI should be governed, how organisations can manage risk, and how Copilot can be scaled responsibly across the workforce.
You'll have exposure to senior stakeholders across technology, security, risk and compliance, alongside opportunities to contribute to AI strategy, governance frameworks, business development and the development of new consulting propositions.
