Family Advocacy Nurse (FAN)

Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a qualified Family Advocacy Nurse (FAN) to support the Department of the Air Force Family Advocacy Program at Lakenheath, Suffolk, United Kingdom. The FAN provides comprehensive home-based prevention services to eligible military families who are expecting a child or have children under four years of age, with a primary focus on preventing child and partner maltreatment.

The FAN serves as a member of the multidisciplinary FAP team and provides nursing expertise, case management, education, home visitation, prevention services, and family support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive home-based prevention services to families participating in the New Parent Support Program (NPSP).
  • Conduct home visits for NPSP families and provide nursing intervention in accordance with applicable maltreatment plans.
  • Prioritize home visits for high-need and low-need NPSP clients based on established program priorities.
  • Provide case management and coordinate services for assigned NPSP clients.
  • Assess family needs and provide appropriate education, anticipatory guidance, referrals, and support.
  • Provide education regarding child development, nutrition, parenting, attachment and bonding, family health, family violence dynamics, communication, and bereavement.
  • Support FAP maltreatment cases and participate in multidisciplinary case coordination.
  • Participate in Clinical Case Staffing, NPSP Case Staffing, Family Advocacy Committee meetings, and other required program activities.
  • Collaborate with the MTF Chief Nurse regarding nursing standards, practice requirements, and integration into the MTF.
  • Maintain current knowledge of maternal, child, family, and family-violence nursing practices.
  • Provide briefings, reports, educational presentations, advocacy, and prevention support.
  • Maintain professional nursing standards and participate in peer review and program compliance activities.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements

Clearance:

  • Must be eligible for and maintain required privileging within the Military Treatment Facility
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination in accordance with applicable contract and government requirements

Education, Licensure, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
  • Must be a U.S. Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Must maintain a current, unrestricted U.S. state nursing license
  • Must not be under investigation for adverse action by the State Nursing Board
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Community Health Nurse, Maternal Child Health Nurse, or direct experience working with child abuse or domestic abuse
  • Experience conducting home visits is highly encouraged

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to client homes and community locations
  • Ability to work in office, clinical, and residential environments

Work Environment:

  • Work occurs in a combination of office, clinical, community, and client-home environments. The position requires frequent interaction with families and may involve sensitive family circumstances
