Job Description
This is a broad corporate accounting role covering statutory reporting, monthly close, financial controls, audit, tax, and treasury support. The successful candidate will also play a key role in driving process improvement, automation, and finance transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements across multiple non-syndicate entities and Group consolidated accounts.
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including journals, general ledger integrity, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Own and maintain the accounting policy framework, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements and deliverables.
- Oversee the financial affairs of Group holding companies alongside external service providers.
- Support treasury activities through management accounts, financial information, and covenant reporting.
- Drive process improvements and automation across financial reporting and month-end processes.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and coordinate corporation tax submissions with external advisers.
- Maintain a strong financial control environment and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
- Present financial information and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Must Haves

- Professionally qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' post-qualification or equivalent finance experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly UK GAAP and FRS 102.
- Experience within the insurance market, ideally Lloyd’s / London Market.
- Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements and monthly/quarterly reporting.
- Experience managing external audit relationships.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements.
- Experience working with finance systems, general ledgers, and reporting tools.
- Demonstrable experience delivering process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging with senior management.
