Is an incredibly successful boutique cost consulting property consultancy working with fabulous commercial and residential developers across London to build out beautiful iconic design led buildings across the London Skyline.

This is an exciting new opportunity to join their Finance team as a part qualified or fully qualified corporate accountant where you will be supported to continue on your final ACCA or CIMA exams, during the 13 month fixed term maternity cover contract to get started on 1st December 2026-31/01/27.

The Role as Corporate Accountant

01/12/26 – 31/01/27 Fixed term salaried contract

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day finance function, maintain effective controls and deliver accurate, timely reporting. Working closely with the Finance Director, Partners and budget owners, they will provide clear analysis, exercise sound judgement and support the development of the Accounts Assistant.

The role will be based in our London office four days per week, with one day working from home.

Scope of role:

  • Maintain continuity across the finance function during the maternity-cover period, covering financial control and reporting, team supervision, payroll and statutory compliance, forecasting, audit coordination and the AccountsIQ implementation.

Experience and competencies:

  • Qualified accountant, although part-qualified candidates will be definitely be considered, with strong management accounting and financial control experience; advanced Excel skills and confidence using finance and project-management systems; a proven ability to manage competing deadlines and deliver accurate work with limited supervision; clear and confident communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders; ideally, experience of supervising, reviewing or developing junior finance staff; and a practical, improvement-focused approach to systems, processes and data.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage, support and develop the Accounts Assistant, setting clear priorities, reviewing output and ensuring the effective delivery of sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank processing, supplier and other payments, credit control and journal responsibilities.
  • Maintain clear review processes across the finance function, ensuring transactional work is accurate, complete, properly authorised and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Review Sage postings, prepare and review the trial balance, and ensure all balance-sheet accounts are reconciled, supported and reviewed on a timely basis, with outstanding items investigated and resolved.
  • Manage the overall fee forecast and turnover reporting through Rapport 3 (project management system), working closely with Partners to secure timely updates, reconcile intercompany transfers and ensure accrued income is recognised accurately.
  • Prepare the monthly management accounts, including analysis of fee projections, debtors, overheads, staffing costs, cash flow and the profit and loss account, ensuring outputs are accurate, complete and delivered to the agreed timetable.
  • Provide clear commentary on the management accounts, identifying trends, key messages, risks and recommended actions for the Finance Director, Partners and budget owners.
  • Prepare weekly cash-flow reports and forecasts.
  • Oversee supplier payment runs and prepare or review PAYE and other statutory submissions.
  • Prepare, review and manage the payroll process in liaison with the outsourced provider.
  • Oversee and review staff expense claims, ensuring compliance with the expenses guidance.
  • Prepare and submit Office for National Statistics returns.
  • Manage the electric-car lease arrangements and Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Manage the company pension scheme, including monthly uploads to Royal London.
  • Lead forecasting and budgeting process, including quarterly reporting to budget owners and periodic reforecasting.
  • Prepare hourly rates for technical staff grades.
  • Coordinate the annual audit, including preparation of supporting schedules, management of information requests and liaison with the external auditors and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Support the annual insurance renewal process by preparing the required financial and operational information.
  • Maintain the full-time-equivalent staff tracker.
  • Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns.
  • Review PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) and P11D calculations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in business efficiency by promoting effective use of the Rapport 3 system and improving the quality, accessibility and use of data to support timely, informed decision-making.
