SUMMARY:
Job Title: Corporate Affairs Officer
Contract Type: Full time
Reports to: Head of Corporate Affairs
Location: Central London, with occasional international travel.
Hybrid working: A minimum of three days per week in the office, with home-working arrangements at the discretion of the CEO.
Hours: 9:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional breakfast and evening events.
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
Annual leave: 25 working days per year, plus Bank Holidays.
Benefits: Contributory pension, health insurance, season ticket loan and language classes (Spanish, English or Portuguese).
THE ORGANISATION:
Canning House (CH) is the United Kingdom’s leading forum on Latin America. For over 80 years, its mission has been to build understanding and relationships between the UK, Latin America & Iberia. The organisation convenes high-level conferences, seminars and roundtables; publishes insightful reports, white papers and blogs; and maintains an extensive senior network among businesses, experts and influencers, all across the broadest range of subjects, sectors and specialisms.
THE ROLE:
Canning House is seeking a proactive, highly organised and personable Corporate Affairs Officer to support the development and management of its relationships with commercial organisations and other key stakeholders.
These include existing and prospective corporate members, sponsors, Trade Promotion Organisations (TPOs), multinationals and other organisations with an interest in Latin America and Iberia, as well as the region's political, economic and current affairs.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, the Corporate Affairs Officer will play an important role in delivering Canning House's corporate engagement strategy, strengthening relationships with stakeholders and supporting the growth, engagement and retention of the organisation's corporate membership.
This is a varied and outward-facing role, combining relationship management, business development, event delivery, stakeholder engagement and administration. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with senior external stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and taking ownership of projects from conception through to delivery.
The role would suit someone who is commercially minded, highly organised and genuinely interested in Latin America, Iberia and international affairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Membership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with corporate members, prospective members, sponsors and other stakeholders.
- Support the recruitment of new corporate members and the retention and engagement of existing members.
- Maintain regular, effective and professional communication with Canning House's corporate network.
- Identify opportunities to increase corporate members' engagement with Canning House's events, publications, thought leadership and other activities.
- Support the delivery of membership growth and engagement targets.
- Assist with the preparation of membership proposals, presentations and other corporate engagement materials.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records, databases and CRM information.

Events and Programmes
- Support the planning and delivery of Canning House events and programmes for corporate members and other stakeholders, including:
- Identifying, inviting and coordinating speakers and panellists.
- Preparing invitations, briefing notes, agendas and supporting materials.
- Coordinating venues, guest lists, registrations and event logistics.
- Liaising professionally with speakers, sponsors, members, partners and suppliers.
- Supporting event promotion and communications.
- Assisting with event delivery, including occasional early morning and evening events.
- Conducting post-event follow-up and identifying opportunities for further stakeholder engagement.
- Supporting the development of new event concepts and programme ideas.
Sponsorship and Business Development
- Assist with identifying and developing sponsorship opportunities for events, publications and other Canning House activities.
- Support the preparation of sponsorship proposals and presentations.
- Help identify potential commercial partners and opportunities for collaboration.
- Maintain professional relationships with existing and prospective sponsors and partners.
Corporate Affairs and Research
- Prepare correspondence, presentations, briefings, reports and other materials for corporate engagement.
- Monitor relevant political, economic and business developments in Latin America and identify issues of potential interest to Canning House and its corporate network.
- Contribute ideas and insights to Canning House's corporate engagement and programme development.
- Represent Canning House professionally at meetings, events and external engagements.
Teamwork and Administration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Canning House to support the organisation's wider objectives.
- Ensure corporate and event-related information is recorded accurately and efficiently.
- Support general administrative and operational requirements associated with the Corporate Affairs function.
- Undertake other duties reasonably required to support the objectives of the role and Canning House.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

- A positive, flexible and solutions-oriented approach.
- Respect for colleagues, stakeholders and the values of the organisation.
- Knowledge of, or a genuine curiosity about, Latin America and Iberia, together with a willingness to deepen knowledge of the region.
- The legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
Desirable
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience working with corporate organisations, membership organisations, chambers of commerce, public affairs, professional services, government or international organisations.
- Previous experience in relationship management, business development, events, sponsorship or stakeholder engagement.
- Professional experience or a strong academic background relating to Latin America or Iberia.
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural environment.
- A university degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in International Relations, International Affairs, International Business, Trade, Public Relations, Communications, Latin American Studies or a related discipline.
