Referment is working with an established law firm serving individuals, families and businesses across the Midlands. Its corporate and commercial team advises a diverse range of clients — start-ups, owner-managed businesses, established companies, local authorities, charities and high-net-worth individuals — and is now looking for an additional lawyer to join the team.
The firm also handles commercial property, dispute resolution and litigation, employment law and private client matters, so the corporate and commercial work is supported by colleagues across a wide range of specialisms.
The Role
You'll run a broad corporate and commercial caseload of your own, covering company and business sales and acquisitions, corporate restructures, shareholder and partnership agreements, commercial agreements, support for clients starting new businesses, and general corporate advisory work. Because the client base is varied, so is the work: you might be helping a founder put their first shareholders' agreement in place, working through a restructure with an established company, or advising a local authority or charity on its commercial arrangements. Applications are welcomed on either a full-time or part-time basis.

What We're Looking For
You'll be a qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with around two to four years of broad corporate and commercial experience. Alongside that, you'll bring:
- strong commercial awareness and technical ability;
- excellent client care and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise everyone from first-time founders to established companies, charities and high-net-worth individuals;
- the ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision;
- a proactive, team-focused approach.

Breadth matters more here than a narrow specialism, but prior exposure to sales and acquisitions, restructures or shareholder and partnership agreements will help you settle into the caseload quickly.

A solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive in a regional or full-service practice who has built broad corporate and commercial exposure — perhaps someone currently doing deal support in a larger team who would relish advising clients directly, or a CILEX-qualified lawyer who has specialised in this work.
