Why Corporate & Institutional Banking?
Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) is the strategic partner for UK and international corporates and institutions
Through the course of the programme, interns will build core skills to support them in managing risk, achieving financial goals, and accessing global markets, financing solutions, risk management tools and transaction banking services.
Your Internship Journey
As a CIB intern, we’ll give the best possible start to your career by equipping you with experience across our Customer Coverage, Product, and Sustainable Finance teams, providing broad experience, collaboration and customer insight and expertise.
Through in-depth training and working with leading industry experts you’ll develop unrivalled knowledge and skills.
Over the course of this eight-week programme, you can expect to:
- Understand the financing, liquidity and risk management requirements of large, complex clients across sectors and align tailored banking and capital solutions
- Analyse financial statements, cash flows, leverage, liquidity and credit metrics to assess funding needs, capital structures and credit risk
- Support credit underwriting, transaction structuring, pricing, covenant analysis and risk-adjusted return evaluation
- Develop product expertise across corporate lending, Debt Capital Markets, private financing, transaction banking, working capital and sustainable finance solutions
- Collaborate with Coverage, Risk, Credit, Legal and Product teams to originate, structure and execute client transactions while strengthening stakeholder management and communication skills

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for our CIB internship programme, you’ll need:
- To be in your penultimate year of university
- To be on course to achieving a 2:1 in your degree
- A deep sense of curiosity
- Analytical skills
- To enjoy collaborating with others and working as part of a team
- A proactive and resourceful approach to your work
- To be a keen problem solver
- Good attention to detail
