Job Opportunity at VWV

Here at VWV our corporate team is thriving. Renowned as a firm for our culture and values, we pride ourselves on giving our lawyers the greatest exposure to high quality work at every stage of their career. We're now looking for a corporate lawyer with a strong grounding in VC and M&A work, to join our Bristol office and support our national offering.

We're looking for someone with enthusiasm and confidence to work on transactional work which flows from our local market contacts and national reputation. This position is very diverse in the type of work undertaken and sectors you would be working with, but you would be joining an established and very well regarded team of corporate lawyers who principally support regional SMEs on M&A and PE deals and early stage technology and life sciences companies on VC deals (noting that Bristol and the South West is a hot spot for technology and life science university spin-outs, start-ups and scale-ups).

About Us

Although we have over 600 employees from four offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity - in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other and with our clients. That means you'll join a team and a firm that will encourage you and be supportive. As a Top 100 UK law firm you won't be surprised by the quality of our work, but you may be surprised by the breadth of it. The Corporate team comprises over 30 people, with 10 Partners and 14 Lawyers. As a team we advise on over 100 M&A and VC transactions each year. The majority of our corporate clients are SMEs (including family businesses) but our clients range from start-ups through to PLCs and multi-national organisations across a variety of sectors such as technology, life sciences, healthcare and education.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a corporate lawyer with a number of years post-qualified experience, most likely working at, although other levels will be considered. The work is interesting, fast-paced and rewarding - you will be working with clients who really value our professionalism and expertise and for whom we can make a real difference. You can feel confident that you will never be short of interesting work, and importantly, the matters on which you're acting will often be high profile in nature. You'll also relish the fact that no two days are the same. You will also be encouraged to actively participate in our various "lawyer-in-residence" schemes that we provide to the region's technology and life sciences incubators and accelerators - a great opportunity to learn about the client's business. You will also be encouraged to participate in sector-focused and regional business development and networking opportunities - at VWV these are not just for senior members of the team.

About You

You're a corporate lawyer with a passion for transactional work. This is an area where clients rely on us as trusted advisors to demonstrate empathy and understanding as well as technical excellence so you're someone for whom communication skills come easily and integrity is part of your DNA.

Perhaps you're currently in private practice and are looking for a change of culture, or maybe you're in house and are seeking a return to private practice… either way, we'd love to hear from you.
