Corporate Banking Associate/Senior Associate - Power, Energy and Commodity Traders

Citi is looking for a Corporate Banking Associate or Senior Associate to join its Power, Energy and Commodity Traders team within UK Natural Resources, where you will deliver bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to a high-profile global client base. In this role, you will work alongside Senior Bankers to originate and execute strategic financing transactions across Citi's full product platform, including Capital Markets, Markets, and Treasury & Trade Solutions. This is an opportunity to build deep sector expertise in one of the most dynamic industries in global finance, with direct client engagement at CFO and Treasury level across the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Energy, Power and Commodity Trading clients on capital structure, financing strategy, and corporate finance solutions, acting as a trusted partner at the CFO and Treasury level.
  • Lead the origination and execution of episodic and strategic financing transactions as an active member of deal teams across the EMEA region.
  • Develop targeted client pitch materials and financial analyses by evaluating public filings, research reports, business plans, and financial forecasts to support transaction execution and business development.
  • Conduct credit analysis and risk assessment of existing and prospective relationships, including periodic review of financial performance, liquidity position, peer benchmarking, and financial projections.
  • Collaborate closely with product partners across Capital Markets, Commodities, Derivatives, Trade Finance, and Lending to identify cross-sell opportunities and deepen product penetration across the portfolio.
  • Monitor market and industry trends in the Energy, Power and Commodity Trading sector to deliver market-leading content and position Citi as a specialist adviser to clients.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, building their technical capability and client management skills to strengthen overall team performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in a corporate banking, financing, debt advisory, or capital markets and investment banking environment.
  • Sector experience in Energy, Power and Commodity Trading, with the ability to engage credibly with clients as an industry specialist.
  • Credit analysis capability with a track record of executing episodic financing transactions and assessing counterparty risk.
  • Corporate finance acumen, including a sound understanding of capital structure drivers and the ability to develop and evaluate financial models, projections, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Quantitative, accounting, and financial modelling skills applied to the evaluation of complex transactions and client situations.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into compelling client materials.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in Reserve Based Lending, project finance, or other structured lending products within the energy or natural resources sector.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation including Loan Agreements and ISDA Master Agreements.
  • Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Established internal and external networks across product, risk, and regional banking teams within a global financial institution.
