Role Overview

The Manager of Corporate Business Development position resides in the Global Strategy group and works closely with business units to define and execute Johnson Controls long term vision.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Director – Business Development EMEA and will support Johnson Controls’ inorganic growth strategy across the EMEA region. You will collaborate with business leaders and senior stakeholders across the organization to support the identification and assessment of strategic growth opportunities, contribute to the development of investment cases, and help advance priority transactions and partnership initiatives. You will combine market insight, commercial analysis and cross-functional coordination to support Johnson Controls' inorganic growth strategy and long-term value creation objectives.

What you will do

  • Support proprietary M&A origination efforts and pipeline development by identifying and developing potential acquisition opportunities through market research, competitive analysis, industry intelligence, and internal stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities, supporting the evaluation and prioritization of targets that align with the company's strategic and financial objectives.
  • Monitor market trends, emerging technologies and competitor activity to inform the inorganic growth pipeline.
  • Transaction execution support from early-stage opportunity screening and investment thesis development through to due diligence, including supporting the preparation of business cases and executive-level presentations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, entrepreneurs, investors and external advisors as needed.

How you will do it

  • Take ownership of opportunities from first signal to decision, with clear accountability and strong commercial judgment.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support the advancement of inorganic growth opportunities, and the delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Support the development of business cases and presentations that communicate complex ideas and strategies.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, entrepreneurs, and investors.
  • Effective communication is critical, using a variety of tools and techniques such as presentations, reports, and data visualizations to convey complex ideas and findings.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments, analyze market data and research, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement in current and adjacent markets.

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in management consulting, operations, strategic business development or a similar role with strong exposure to supporting M&A activities.
  • Proven ability to collect, evaluate and synthesize market trends, competitive landscapes and growth opportunities.
  • Experience with market assessment, including primary and secondary market research, segmentation, and data-driven growth projections.
  • Experience in supporting the development of investment theses, business cases, and executive presentations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams across functions.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
