Are you an organised and customer-focused HR professional who enjoys making a difference behind the scenes? We’re looking for a Corporate Case Services Officer (Human Resources) to join our Corporate Case Services team on a part-time, 18-month fixed-term contract to cover an internal secondment.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy and supportive team that delivers high-quality HR services across Canterbury City Council. You’ll play a key role in supporting colleagues throughout the employee lifecycle, helping to ensure our HR processes are efficient, compliant, and customer-focused.

About This HR Role

As a Corporate Case Services Officer, you’ll provide HR administration and support across all stages of the employee lifecycle. Working closely with HR colleagues, managers, payroll, and external partners, you’ll help ensure a responsive, efficient, and professional service for our customers.

Here’s What You’ll Get Up To

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, contract administration, employment changes, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Managing HR enquiries by phone and email, providing accurate advice and guidance on recruitment, pay, terms and conditions, policies, and procedures.
  • Producing contracts, formal employment documentation, and workforce information with a high level of accuracy.
  • Working closely with managers, payroll, IT, Occupational Health, and HR specialists to resolve queries and maintain efficient processes.
  • Monitoring and validating recruitment and employee information to ensure compliance with legislative and council requirements.
  • Supporting our learning and development offer including meeting trainers face to face in our offices.
  • Analysing HR data and producing reports and KPI information to support service performance and continuous improvement.

Working Pattern

  • Part-time role working across Monday to Friday
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Attendance at council offices and meeting venues as required by business needs
  • 18-month fixed-term contract (secondment cover)

About You, The Ideal HR Professional For The Job

Your Knowledge (essential)

  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and of employment legislation as relevant to the HR administration processes
  • Knowledge of HR administration processes and documentation
  • Knowledge of the management, processing, and analysis of HR data within an HR Information System and outside of the system through the use of third-party software (e.g., MS Excel).
  • Working knowledge of the range of employment policies and contractual documents required by the employer.

Your Experience

  • Experience working within an HR administration or HR support environment.
  • Experience dealing with a variety of customer enquiries and managing challenging situations professionally.
  • Experience working with employment legislation, policies, and contractual documentation.

Your Skills And Qualifications

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including data analysis and the use of Excel formulas and pivot tables.
