Corporate Commercial Controller
Location: London
Job Type: Permanent - £80,000 - £85,000
We are recruiting for an experienced and commercially focused Commercial Controller to join a leading real estate and development business. This is a senior finance position responsible for overseeing corporate finance activities, financial reporting, commercial analysis, financial controls, outsourced service provider management and investment structures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the finance function, driving best practice across the business and providing commercial and financial leadership. The role requires a qualified finance professional with strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance strategic objectives with detailed financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Finance Leadership
- Oversee all corporate finance activities and financial performance reporting.
- Manage resourcing forecasts, service agreement profitability and related financial analysis.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of service agreements and support the development of new commercial agreements and fee structures.
- Ensure billing processes align with commercial agreements and maximise revenue opportunities.
- Provide proactive commercial and financial advice to support business objectives.
- Prepare board reports and financial presentations.
- Lead annual budgeting processes and periodic forecast updates.
- Line manage and support corporate finance team members.
- Support tax-related requests and information requirements.
- Maintain relationships with auditors, advisors and external stakeholders.
Financial Control & Shared Services Management
- Act as the key contact for the outsourced finance service provider.
- Monitor service delivery against agreed KPIs, SLAs and contractual requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements, efficiencies and technology enhancements.
- Work closely with finance leadership to strengthen financial controls and governance.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of a robust financial control environment.
- Ensure finance processes minimise risk and support operational effectiveness across multiple projects and entities.

Investment & Financial Reporting
- Lead financial reporting activities across investment structures and entities.
- Develop a detailed understanding of investment arrangements and commercial structures.
- Provide guidance on the allocation of returns, profits and distributions.
- Support the management and reporting of investment vehicle performance.
- Assist with decision-making relating to capital distributions and returns to stakeholders.
Fund Management & Investor Relations
- Lead financial reporting activities relating to fund management structures.
- Provide oversight of profit allocations, returns and distributions.
- Act as a key point of contact for investors.
- Support acquisition and disposal transactions from a financial perspective.
- Ensure compliance with debt facilities and lender reporting requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support investment decisions.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting
- Lead annual budgets, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Deliver commercial and financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Prepare management reports and board-level reporting.
- Monitor financial performance and identify risks and opportunities.
- Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across the organisation.

Team Leadership & Business Partnership
- Promote a culture of best practice, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with finance and wider business teams.
- Support and develop junior team members.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Influence positive change through effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support business objectives.
Key Requirements
- Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant.
- Minimum 8+ years' finance experience, including post-qualified experience.
- Strong commercial finance, financial control and reporting background.
- Experience managing multiple priorities within a complex business environment.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and financial analysis functions.
- Ability to combine detailed financial control with strategic commercial thinking.
- Experience managing external service providers and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to identify process improvements and implement change.
- Highly resilient, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
- Confident working with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proactive approach with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.
