We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Counsel vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join us at a skilled level in a division that supports the business legal interests.

What You Will Do

This role will serve as a key employee within the Legal Department and will support the EMEA, APAC and LATAM Healthcare businesses, reporting to the Associate General Counsel EMEA. The position is a mid-level position within the Legal Department and may have supervisory responsibilities.

This role will be recognised as a legal expert, integrated into a multi-disciplinary international team, applying strong technical legal skills in a commercially pragmatic way to a range of commercial and corporate law issues to support a Customer-orientated business.

This role will develop an understanding of the EMEA, APAC and LATAM Healthcare businesses and strategy to identify legal risk and to identify areas where the Legal Department can add value.

This role will liaise with relevant internal departments and colleagues internationally, understanding and dealing with internal client expectations, objectives, negotiating positions, and key concerns.

DUTIES

  • Managing and handling specialized, complex legal issues relating to commercial matters, business acquisitions and divestitures, labour and employment matters, regulatory compliance, and risk management and litigation issues.
  • Drafting, amending and reviewing a wide variety of commercial agreements to identify and mitigate legal and commercial risk.
  • Conducting legal negotiations to reach agreement upon various documents and also leading legal discussions with colleagues and external Customers.
  • Assist with the management of outside counsel in support of the EMEA, APAC and LATAM Healthcare businesses.
  • Supporting tender activities to designated lines of business, programmes or campaigns.

Requirements

  • Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and hold a current practicing certificate. You ideally will have a minimum of 1 PQE. Please note that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable candidates will be considered.
  • A focus on quality and attention to detail with a keen interest in solving commercial problems with effective legal solutions.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards and consistent ability to act with good legal judgement and sound commercial sense.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Additional language skills are beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and ability to proactively use legal knowledge, skills, and resources to provide practical and creative solutions to avoid and mitigate problems and achieve business goals, rather than merely identifying issues.
  • Experience in complex commercial transactions in, and interactions with outside counsel in, EMEA, APAC and LATAM regions is beneficial.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of competence and experience of drafting and negotiating sales and purchasing contracts (including distribution agreements) and other complex commercial arrangements, both in the UK and across the EMEA, APAC and LATAM regions.
  • Experience working in a Customer-orientated, people oriented, environment requiring interaction with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • High energy, motivated, enthusiastic, and creative, yet thoughtful and attentive to the need for timely, effective, and detailed follow-through while keeping colleagues fully updated.
