This is an early-in opportunity on a new and growing desk. Rather than stepping into a rigid structure, you’ll be joining at a point where you can genuinely help shape how the desk develops.

This is a proprietary trading firm with a global footprint, and they are expanding their fixed income operation out of London.

You’ll be working directly alongside a trader, with real input, real visibility, and a role that will grow as the desk does. If you want ownership over your coverage and the chance to have an immediate impact, this is the kind of environment that gives you that.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’re coming from a buyside environment and are already used to working closely with traders or portfolio managers. You’ll need to be comfortable in a fast-moving fixed income setting, able to communicate clearly, and confident operating at pace.

Your background is in credit research, with experience covering high yield corporate bonds and a strong grasp of credit analysis.

What will set you apart is the ability to react quickly to breaking news, think ahead around future events, and identify opportunities others may be missing - whether by uncovering new information or looking at familiar situations from a different angle. Embedded on a strategy-focused trading desk, the analysis you produce will have a direct impact on trading decisions.
