Corporate Development Associate

A specialist, internationally listed investment business is hiring a Corporate Development Associate into its London team. It's a small, high-calibre group, so there's real responsibility from day one and regular contact with senior leadership.

With a broad remit, on the deal side you'll support M&A, minority investments and strategic partnerships, building the financial models, running valuation and due diligence, and helping push transactions through to completion. But it doesn't stop once a deal closes - there's a strong operational and strategic side to this role, working hands-on with the businesses they invest in to help them grow, alongside the market intelligence and research that shapes where the team looks next and informs decisions at the top of the business. It's as much about what happens after an investment as before it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This also isn't a role with a fixed ladder or a box-ticking route to promotion. It's meritocratic, with plenty of room to grow, so you'll have the space to make it your own and progress as far as your ability takes you.

What would make you a good fit:

  • Around 3-4 years in investment banking, private equity, transaction services or corporate development
  • Strong financial modelling, and a good instinct for what the numbers are actually telling you
  • Business services or professional services sector experience would be an advantage, though it isn't essential
  • Articulate and commercially minded, comfortable holding your own with senior people
  • Happy working with limited precedent and figuring things out independently
