Director – Strategic Relationship Development

About the Role The role holder will bring together key skills in relationship management, technical and risk analysis, business development, together with professionalism and business acumen to:

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of Corporate relationships within defined risk appetites
  • Collaborate closely with Fellow Directors and Senior Directors in deal origination, strategy development, and execution
  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience, differentiating Nationwide from competitors while generating sustainable and attractive returns

This position will be based within the Strategic Finance Team under Business Banking, which focuses on building and enhancing Nationwide’s reputation and existence in the North & East Scotland Corporate Banking market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Utilise a wide skillset, including the ability to assess complex technical and risk scenarios, to support corporate strategic initiatives.
  • Work with senior leadership to generate and execute on high-value deal opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships that drive loyalty, retention, and profitable growth.
  • Represent Nationwide professionally in client interactions, networking, and business events.
  • Contribute to broader brand and relationship-building strategies in the North & East Scotland market.
  • Ensure compliance with risk frameworks while fostering long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Nationwide Work Culture

  • Regional local presence: Due to regular travel across North & East Scotland, this role must be based near Aberdeen, Edinburgh, or Inverness to support client meetings.
