Corporate Finance Manager / Director

£75,000 to £120,000 plus bonus

Most Corporate Finance roles ask you to choose between hands-on deal involvement and a bigger platform.

This one gives you both.

You would be joining an established national advisory business with a growing Corporate Finance team in Bristol, advising owner-managed, entrepreneurial and sponsor-backed businesses across the lower mid-market.

The brief is flexible at Manager, Senior Manager or Director level. What matters is not the exact title you hold today, but whether you can manage transactions, work closely with shareholders and management teams, and help build relationships across Bristol and the South West.

The work is lower mid-market Corporate Finance and lead advisory, typically across business sales, acquisitions, MBOs, growth capital and strategic advisory mandates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Typical transactions sit around £10m to £50m EV, with a sweet spot around £20m. The team will also look at smaller transactions where the rationale is right, while the wider platform can support larger and more complex mandates.

This would suit someone who enjoys being close to the client, not buried in a narrow execution lane.

You will be involved from pitch through to completion, working with shareholders, management teams, buyers, funders and advisers. You will also help develop relationships across the Bristol and South West market, supported by the firm’s wider national advisory platform.

You will probably bring experience across:

  • Business sales and acquisitions
  • MBOs and private equity-backed transactions
  • Financial analysis, valuation and deal execution
  • Information memoranda and buyer / investor materials
  • Project management across live transactions
  • Client, shareholder and adviser management
  • Origination support and regional relationship development

You do not need to arrive as a fully formed rainmaker. You do need to be commercially credible, comfortable in front of clients and motivated by the chance to grow within a strong Bristol / South West Corporate Finance team.

This is a good move for someone who wants broader deal flow, a stronger platform and more complex work, without losing the hands-on, client-led feel of the lower mid-market.
