Salary Range: $102,645.00 to $128,271.00
The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.

The Role

HII - America’s largest shipbuilder and a global, all-domain defense provider- has an exciting opportunity for a 2027 Legal Summer intern at our office in Arlington, Virginia! With a 140 year history of advancing U.S. national defense, this minimum 10 week Corporate summer internship opportunity will allow students to gain experience in areas such as business, finance, information technology, and legal and government affairs, as well as being able to support the leaders who are driving the future of HII!

As a Legal summer intern you will:

  • Attend law department staff meetings
  • Review Teaming Agreements and Nondisclosure Agreements
  • Draft letters or other documents as necessary
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda
  • Attend meetings with the business units
  • Attend meetings with outside counsel
  • Perform additional assignments as requested

Upon conclusion of the internship, the Summer Intern should have a general understanding of the duties of an in-house counsel at a publicly traded company.

Must Have

  • Be enrolled in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Official transcripts will be required)
  • Be continuing in a Juris Doctorate program in the fall following the internship
  • Work a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer
