Corporate Receptionist – Business Events Centre (BEC)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (4 Months)
Type: Full time
Hours: 40
Pay/Salary: £13.50 per hour
Location: HMRC, Queensbridge Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, NG2 2GD
Temporary Position (with potential for extension and maternity cover opportunities)
Must pass Clearance/Vetting.
We are looking for a professional worker, welcoming, and experienced Corporate Receptionist to join our team at the Business Events Centre (BEC).
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality reception and administrative service, efficiently managing the check-in of individuals and groups visiting the centre. Acting as the first point of contact, you will represent the BEC with professionalism and ensure visitors receive an excellent customer experience at all times.
You will help facilitate the smooth flow of personnel throughout the building by managing access points, maintaining security procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of presentation and service. You will be expected to maintain a tidy and efficient reception area while handling telephone calls and emails promptly, courteously, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a professional and welcoming reception service to all visitors, clients, and staff.
- Book in independent and groups attending the centre.
- Manage access control and issue visitor and staff passes.
- Handle incoming telephone calls, emails, and enquiries efficiently.
- Manage and maintain documentation, ensuring records are stored securely and appropriately.
- Respond to visitor queries and take messages as required.
- Assist with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Order consumable goods and maintain stock levels.
- Ensure reception and BEC areas remain clean, presentable, and welcoming.
- Support colleagues with cleaning duties when required.
- Carry out general administrative duties to support the effective operation of the centre.
Essential Qualifications & Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a receptionist, corporate reception, customer service, or administrative role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Professional appearance and manner, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable
- Previous experience working within a corporate, hospitality, conference, or business centre environment.
- Experience using visitor management or access control systems.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including emergency evacuation processes.

Contract Information
This is initially a temporary position; however, there may be an opportunity for the contract to be extended, subject to business requirements and performance. There is also the potential for the role to develop into a maternity cover position, providing longer-term employment opportunities for the successful candidate.
