Torbay Council is looking for a Corporate Security Officer to join our dedicated Security Team, providing a highly visible security presence across key Council buildings and locations; primarily within Torquay Library. Working days will include weekend working.
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines security, customer service, safeguarding, incident response and partnership working. You'll play an important role in protecting Council assets, supporting staff and visitors, assisting enforcement agencies and helping people feel safe in the communities we serve. Whether you're carrying out mobile patrols, monitoring CCTV systems, responding to alarms or supporting public events, you'll be at the heart of maintaining safe, secure and welcoming environments.

This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills
Essential:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal confidently and professionally with challenging situations and conflict.
- Good observational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently using personal initiative and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, logs and incident reports.
- As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
- Proven ability in gathering, interpreting, explaining, associating and applying information to meet customers’ needs.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience of working within the security industry or similar roles.
- Experience of responding to security incidents and incidents of anti-social behaviour.
- Experience dealing with members of the public and delivering excellent customer service.
