The role

At SSE, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to creating a healthy, supportive and environmentally responsible workplace where everyone can thrive.

As the Corporate SHE Advisor, you’ll play a key role in guiding and empowering colleagues and partners working across a broad range of Corporate Support Services throughout the organisation to make safe, informed decisions. Working alongside the Corporate SHE Manager, you’ll help shape and continually improve our Group SHE Management System, offering clear information, training and insights that strengthen our safety culture.

You’ll build positive relationships across teams and with Contractor Partners to ensure risks are well understood and managed in areas such as the safe management of work, CDM, contractor engagement, and environmental protection. By fostering collaboration, sharing learning from incidents, and championing good practice, you’ll help create an inclusive culture where people feel supported to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable outcomes.

This role involves engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders, regularly visiting work sites across our UK and Ireland estate, and representing SSE at internal meetings and events. Through your thoughtful approach and commitment to our values, you’ll help ensure our people, customers and communities stay safe and well every day.

You will

  • Trusted Safety Partner – Build supportive relationships across the business and with contractors, offering competent SHE guidance, questioning current safety practices and working in partnership to find better ways of working safely.
  • SHE Support – Provide practical SHE advice to help teams deliver safely and confidently, including communicating Occupational Health and Wellbeing initiatives and programmes to promote a healthy and safety conscious work environment.
  • Culture & Behaviours – Champion positive behaviours and consistent SSE Safety Family practices, working with managers and partners to strengthen respectful, safety‑focused ways of working and uphold high performance standards.
  • External Representation – Represent SSE with professionalism in engagement with contractor partners, ensuring strong collaboration and clear communication.
  • Incident & Assurance Leadership – Support incident management and investigations, share learning across teams, and support audits, inspections and documentation improvements to maintain compliance, governance and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
