About Us
Exchange for Change is the industry-led organisation appointed by the UK government to design, build and operate the UK's new Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for single-use drinks containers made from PET plastic, steel and aluminium.
This scheme which launches in the UK on 1 October 2027 will be the world’s biggest DRS and one of the most ambitious environmental infrastructure programmes in the UK’s history.
Exchange for Change’s responsibilities cover all aspects of the scheme including collection, sorting and processing of containers, managing deposits and refunds, and driving consistently high recycling rates across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Role purpose
Reporting to the Head of Media & Content, this role will be key to building industry awareness of, and participation in, the DRS and raising Exchange for Change’s reputation as a trusted partner to industry in changing the UK’s recycling landscape.
The Corporate Social Media Manager will execute Exchange for Change’s corporate and b2b social media strategy to engage and mobilise drinks producers, retailers, logistics providers and industry bodies to play their part in the UK DRS.
The job holder will work closely with the Head of Media & Content, the wider Corporate Affairs team as well as colleagues from other functions including Marketing and Operations to translate complex operational, regulatory and sustainability topics into clear and compelling content to tell our story and inspire action.
This is a hands-on role for a social media expert who is excited by the opportunity to creatively drive industry engagement in one of the UK’s most important circular economy initiatives to achieve systemic change.
Key Responsibilities & Priorities
Social media strategy and planning
- Develop and deliver a dynamic corporate social media plan to drive producer and retailer awareness, excitement, engagement, action and operational readiness.
- Ensure the Corporate and B2B social media plans align with, and compliments, Exchange for Change’s wider communications strategy.
Content creation and publishing
- Work with subject matter experts to identify and produce compelling and engaging content across a mix of channels including LinkedIn, YouTube and Reddit.
- Translate complex operational and technical information into clear, accessible and high-quality content for business audiences.

Community management and stakeholder engagement
- Manage day-to-day channel activity including monitoring and responding to comments.
- Identify and build relationships with subject matter experts, B2B influencers, trade bodies to amplify reach and credibility.
Data analytics, reporting and channel optimisation
- Track performance across corporate and B2B social channels and provide regular reports, insights and recommendations to the Head of Media & Content.
- Use data analytics to refine corporate social strategy/content and inform wider communications and engagement strategy and plans.
Functional collaboration
- Partner with colleagues in Corporate Affairs, Marketing, Operations and others to shape the corporate social strategy, plans and content.
- Support integrated campaigns across paid, earned and owned channels.
Skills And Experience
- Strong experience in managing and growing social media channels and communities - ideally in a B2B context
- Strong content creation and communication skills – written, visual, video and verbal
- Able to simplify complex topics to create engaging content
- Experience in using AI to enhance social media activity and content production
- Good understanding of how paid and organic social work together to help shape effective ad content
- Comfortable using social listening
- Strong understanding of SEO and GEO principles and techniques
- Data-driven mindset with strong familiarity of social media analytical and reporting tools to demonstrate performance and impact
