About The Role

Corporate Support Officer - Maldon District Council

Maldon District Council

Permanent (22 hours per week), Full Time

From £31,609.62 to £33,561.56 (pro-rata)

Location: Maldon

Closing Date: 23rd October 2026

Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the role of Corporate Support Officer, a part-time position offering hybrid working with an expectation of attending the office 1 – 2 days per week.

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will be required to work 22 hours per week, the working pattern is Monday and Tuesday 8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. with an hour lunch and one other day 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m with an hours lunch break, day to be agreed.

Role Purpose

We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Corporate Support Officer to join our busy Corporate Support Team. You will provide high-quality administrative support to elected Members, officers and internal and external customers, helping the team deliver an efficient, responsive and professional service.

Accountabilities – Service Delivery

  • Prepare, format and despatch agendas, reports, papers and other meeting documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend meetings, take clear and concise notes, record decisions and actions.
  • Manage diaries, meeting arrangements, correspondence, shared mailboxes and routine enquiries.
  • Triage complaints and provide support to ensure responses are issued in a timely way.
  • Liaise professionally with elected Members, senior officers, colleagues, partners and members of the public.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases and other systems in line with information governance requirements.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion, maintaining confidentiality and complying with data protection requirements.
  • Use Microsoft 365 applications confidently to produce documents, manage information and support collaborative working.
  • Monitor deadlines, prioritise competing tasks and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Identify and support opportunities to improve administrative processes, customer service and service delivery.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Previous experience in an administrative, business support or customer service role.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Confidence in taking accurate meeting notes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • A professional, positive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound judgement when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
