Corporate Tax Assistant
Aberdeen | Permanent | £27,500–£30,500 per annum
2020 Recruitment are working with a global client within the energy industry who are looking to add a Corporate Tax Assistant to their team in Aberdeen. This is a permanent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within corporate tax. You may be a recent Accounting and Finance graduate or someone with experience in finance, accounting or tax who is looking to move into a specialist role. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced tax professionals, gaining exposure to UK and international tax activities, with support towards obtaining the ATT professional tax qualification.
The Role
As the Corporate Tax Assistant, you will support the UK Corporate Tax Department with tax compliance, reporting and administration. You will assist with UK corporation tax returns and computations, support overseas tax reporting and work closely with colleagues across accounting, treasury and finance to ensure information is accurate and deadlines are met.
Duties & Responsibilities
As the Corporate Tax Assistant, your duties will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns and computations.
- Supporting direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting activities.
- Assisting with overseas tax returns and associated administration.
- Maintaining accurate tax records, documentation and compliance schedules.
- Working with accounting, treasury and statutory reporting teams across the business.
- Helping respond to internal and external tax-related queries.
- Supporting the use and maintenance of tax software and reporting systems.
- Contributing to improvements in tax processes and compliance procedures.
- Liaising with UK and international colleagues to meet reporting deadlines.
- Developing your technical knowledge through training and professional studies.

Requirements
To be considered for the Corporate Tax Assistant position, you should have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting and Finance, or previous experience within a finance, accounting or tax-related environment.
- A basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, alongside Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across different teams.
- The ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
- A willingness to learn and develop within corporate tax.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Right to work in the UK.

Working towards, or having recently completed, the ATT qualification would be advantageous. Previous exposure to UK corporate tax or finance compliance, along with experience using systems such as OneSource or AlphaTax, would also be beneficial.
