Cost Accountant
An opportunity has arisen for a Cost Accountant to join the finance team of an established manufacturing business. This is a role with responsibility for analysing and controlling manufacturing costs, standard costing, inventory and variance analysis, while working closely with production, procurement and engineering teams.
This role offers 3 days WFH.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyse production costs and provide detailed reporting and variance analysis.
- Manage and maintain standard costing, including direct materials, labour and manufacturing overheads.
- Calculate, establish and annually update standard costs within D365.
- Monitor manufacturing expenditure against budgets and identify opportunities for improved cost control.
- Work with operations, engineering and procurement to review and update bills of materials and production cost drivers.
- Prepare cost statements, financial forecasts and management information.
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including budgeting and standard costing.
- Reconcile monthly inventory balances and monitor slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Prepare, calculate and reconcile margin invoice line reports.
- Maintain and improve cost accounting processes, systems and procedures.
- Develop, improve and support users of D365 Finance & Operations and other relevant internal systems.
- Complete account reconciliations and provide cover for senior members of the finance team when required.
- Contribute to wider finance and continuous improvement projects.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing cost accounting or similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing variances.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, modelling and data presentation abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data.
