UK & Europe CoE Service Lead – Cost & Commercial
UK & Europe CoE Service Lead – Cost & Commercial; directs, oversees & takes accountability for the UK & Europe Cost & Commercial CoE for Mace Consult, implementing operational programmes that are aligned to the strategic objectives of the business. The role oversees Cost & Commercial activities across UK & Europe, builds capability across business units & is accountable for KPIs & business outcomes for the portfolio.
Works closely with Global CCM CoE lead, UK & Europe Managing Director & business unit leadership & is a member of the CCM CoE global senior leadership team and provides operational expertise, strategic planning & counsel to the CCM UK & Europe team and CCM sector leads.
Leads, develops & delivers the strategy & business plan for Cost & Commercial portfolio working with leadership roles across the business to ensure adherence and consistency of policy, processes and procedures.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Accountable for reviewing the current Mace processes and ways-of-working and establish a new transformative, digitally enabled agenda, driving change across an established UK region whilst laying the foundations to grow Europe offering
- Partnering with senior leaders, oversees increasing cost & commercial management capability & brings together the UK & Europe CCM CoE community, aligning service offers across all aspects of cost and commercial management including cost consultancy, consultancy commercial management, cost certification, cost engineering & claims. Is accountable for supporting the business to deliver the 2027 business strategy and corporate directives/programmes.
- Working alongside UK & Europe BU Leads to estimate and consolidate total CoE resource demand across the business & develops Sector Business Plans for Cost and Commercial management target income and opportunities.
- Partners with Sector Leads to identify business growth opportunities, identifying potential new markets & innovation opportunities. Works with senior sector leadership to understand competitor’s service offer & develops strategies to position Mace’s CCM offer.
- Provides representation & support to Sector Leads to represent Cost and Commercial Management externally through client interactions, at industry events, thought leadership environments & on industry recognised panels.
- Oversees the definition and delivery of the Service Excellence Plan outlining the strategy for aligning, consolidating, innovating and delivering on the Cost and Commercial Management service offer to ensure a consistent client experience on every project. Ensures creation of real distinctive value, aligning with the global digital service offer & aligning the service offer between the UK & Global Hubs.
- Drives ensuring regular contact and communication between the CCM sector leads and project teams, ensuring required resources are available operating to the required standard through the communities and regular communication events and team meetings. Collaborates with Sector Leads to assist in the origination of new work and input into project bidding, tendering and submissions.
- Aligns with the business on establishing robust succession plans, leads Strategic Workforce Planning providing broad oversight of onboarding process.
- Demonstrates ‘good organisation citizenship’ by working in an enterprise-wide way. Champions & drives the strategic implementation of enterprise-wide strategic priorities, initiatives & transformational change, providing enterprise-wide leadership.
- Leads Cost & Commercial portfolio/unit by example, setting & working by high standards, leads, guides & provides direction to business unit/sector, ensures a high performing portfolio & teams that meet & exceed KPIs
- Represents Mace & the Cost & Commercial portfolio/unit, manages & influences key C-Suite & senior external relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, supply chain and relevant government/regulatory bodies.
- In support of UK/Europe MD, provides executive leadership and direction across the Cost & Commercial portfolio/unit & across the business, supporting and mentoring senior leaders including succession planning, onboarding, training and diversity planning.
- Adherence to RICS professional standards including route to APC.
- Promotes & champions the highest standards and adherence to Health, Safety & Wellbeing across portfolio.
- Provides thought leadership, industry expertise & market sounding and expert counsel across the Cost & Commercial portfolio/unit to senior leadership teams including business unit leadership team and externally to the market.

Further Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
Essential:
- Degree/Post Graduate (or equivalent)
- Recognised professional qualification in cost or commercial management (or equivalent)
- Demonstratable track record in a senior leadership/director role (or equivalent).
- Excellent level of commercial awareness, consulting & strategic acumen.
- Excellent understanding of wider management principles and techniques
Desirable
- Experience across more than one sector at senior management grades.
- Trained/accredited in RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) or other equivalent qualification.
