The Opportunity
As part of our continued growth in the energy sector, we are expanding our commercial team to support a diverse portfolio of generation and transmission projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally recognised consultancy and play a key role in delivering the infrastructure that will help shape the UK's energy future.
Based in our new vibrant and contemporary office in the heart of Bristol (Embarq) that brings together experts from across the business and fosters a place where ideas are shared, careers are developed and meaningful relationships are built, you'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders, providing commercial and cost management expertise across major infrastructure programmes.
About The Role
As a Cost Consultant, you will provide commercial and cost management support throughout the project lifecycle, working with our Project Manager and clients to make informed decisions and achieve successful project outcomes. You will work across a range of complex infrastructure projects, supporting procurement, contract administration, cost planning and commercial risk management activities.
Your Impact
You will contribute to the successful delivery of critical energy and transmission projects by preparing feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, and supporting tendering activities. You will lead cost planning, estimating and cost management activities, providing clear reporting and commercial insight to clients and project teams.
Working closely with stakeholders, contractors and consultants, you will help manage contractual frameworks and subcontract arrangements, ensuring commercial risks are identified and effectively managed while maintaining strong client relationships throughout project delivery.
About You
You will be a commercially aware and collaborative professional with experience in quantity surveying, cost consultancy or commercial management within construction or infrastructure projects. Passionate about delivering value and supporting successful project outcomes, you will be comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and balancing multiple priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
