Competitive with fantastic company benefits

Shape major infrastructure projects. Protect commercial value. Deliver projects that matter.

Associated British Ports (ABP) is the UK's leading ports business, operating 21 ports and handling around 100 million tonnes of cargo every year. As we continue to invest heavily in major infrastructure, energy transition and port development projects, we are looking for an exceptional Cost & Contract Manager to join our Humber team.

This is not a role for someone seeking their first step into cost and contract management. We are seeking a seasoned commercial professional with substantial experience of managing cost, risk and contracts throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial business case, procurement and contract strategy through to delivery, administration, commercial close-out and final account resolution.

You'll play a critical role in supporting a growing programme of infrastructure investment across the Humber, providing expert commercial leadership on projects that can exceed £100 million in value.

Why This Opportunity?

  • You'll be joining one of the UK's largest infrastructure owners and operators at a time of significant investment and transformation.
  • Working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, legal advisers and external consultants, you'll be trusted to provide expert commercial judgement on complex projects that directly support the future growth of the UK's ports sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
