Energy & Natural Resources | Teesside

Due to continued growth and increased project demand, an established global construction consultancy is looking to appoint Cost Engineers at various levels to its Energy & Natural Resources team.

Opportunities are available for professionals ranging from Cost Engineer through to Senior and Associate Director levels, with responsibilities and package ownership tailored to experience.

The roles will require regular attendance on site (3 days per week) in Teesside, supporting package engagement, progress alignment, cost reviews and coordination with the wider project team.

The Role

You'll provide package-level cost management, forecasting and performance analysis across major project scopes.

Depending on your level of experience, you'll take responsibility for individual packages or broader areas of project cost performance, ensuring cost information is robust, current and aligned with progress, commercial assurance, QS inputs and forecast outturn reporting.

You'll work closely with Planning, Commercial, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Contractor and Subcontractor teams, providing clear visibility across actual costs, forecasts, commitments, change, trends, variances and emerging cost risks.

For more experienced hires, there will also be greater responsibility for challenging forecasts, providing cost assurance, managing stakeholder relationships and supporting the development of less experienced members of the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
