Cost Engineer

Glasgow | Hybrid Working

Up to £65,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

Help Shape the Future of UK Infrastructure

Some cost engineering roles are all about producing estimates. This isn't one of them.

We're working with a specialist engineering consultancy that's trusted to advise on some of the UK's most complex infrastructure projects. Their work spans highways, bridges, civil structures, defence infrastructure and major transport schemes, helping clients make informed decisions from the earliest stages of a project through to delivery.

As their Glasgow team continues to grow, they're looking for an experienced Cost Consultant or Cost Engineer who enjoys solving problems, working closely with clients and using engineering knowledge to influence major projects. If you're looking for a role where you'll have a genuine voice, build long-term client relationships and develop your career within a highly respected consultancy, this could be exactly what you're looking for.

The Role

You'll be joining a collaborative team of engineers and cost specialists, delivering advice that goes far beyond traditional estimating. Working directly with clients, you'll help develop cost models, provide strategic advice, and support major infrastructure programmes from concept through to delivery. No two projects are the same, so you'll enjoy a varied workload and plenty of opportunities to broaden your experience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing cost estimates, cost plans, and commercial advice for major infrastructure projects.
  • Supporting clients with cost assurance, benchmarking, and whole-life cost modelling.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted adviser.
  • Leading commissions and taking ownership of project delivery.
  • Analysing project data to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving solutions.
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Mentoring junior members of the team and supporting their development.
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the Glasgow office.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
