About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for Cost and Performance Engineer. You will play a key role in supporting refinery manufacturing operations by providing oversight, analysis, and constructive challenge of cost, schedule, and performance data across operational areas. The role is responsible for ensuring robust reporting processes are in place to effectively monitor and communicate performance against budgets, forecasts, and operational targets. Through detailed analysis and performance review, the successful candidate will identify opportunities to drive cost optimisation, improve efficiency, and support delivery of refinery business objectives.

Primary Accountabilities:
- Deliver cost analysis, budget control and performance reporting across Refinery Manufacturing, supporting maintenance and turnaround activities.
- Analyse, interpret and present cost, commercial and performance data from SAP and other business systems to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Produce and maintain cost reports, forecasts and performance metrics, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve budget performance, forecast accuracy and contractor efficiency.
- Provide independent challenge and assurance on maintenance and turnaround costs, commercial performance and budget management.
- Support turnaround events by developing cost forecasts, monitoring expenditure, managing cost allocations and ensuring effective financial close-out.
- Act as the SAP subject matter expert for cost management, reporting, commitments tracking, accruals and financial administration, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
- Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards and performance measures to improve visibility of costs, contractor performance and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with maintenance, turnaround, finance, project and operational teams to deliver accurate reporting and support business objectives.
- Support audit, compliance and HSSE requirements, including KPI reporting and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Identify and promote cost-saving opportunities, process improvements and efficiency initiatives across the refinery.
- Support digitalisation projects and the implementation of technology solutions that improve reporting, analysis and operational performance.
- Provide support during turnaround periods, including additional hours and weekend working when required.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel across site as required.

About You
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as Quantity Surveying, Business Management or Finance, although candidates with an HNC/HND and significant relevant experience will also be considered.
You will have experience in cost management, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting within a maintenance, turnaround, project or operational environment, with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present complex data.
Experience within the oil refining, petrochemical or wider process industries is desirable, along with knowledge of SAP and advanced Excel skills.
We are looking for a commercially minded individual with a strong focus on continuous improvement, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and the flexibility to adapt within a fast-paced operational environment.
