Overview

Mylar Specialty Films (UK) Ltd (Formerly Dupont Teijin Films (UK) Ltd) is a leading global producer of PET and PEN polyester films specialising in film products and related services for markets and industries including Battery Materials, Durable Cards, Electrical Insulation and Capacitors, Flexible Electronics, Healthcare, Imaging Media, Labels, Packaging, Photovoltaics and many more. Mylar Specialty Films is a 50/50 Joint Venture between Celanese Corporation and Teijin Limited. The business has approximately 2000 employees worldwide with manufacturing sites in Asia Pacific, America and Europe. The UK production site and Global Lab are based in Dumfries, Scotland, and the Product Development Operation is based at Wilton on Teesside.

We currently have a vacancy at our Dumfries Site for a Cost/Management Accountant.

This role should support both Finance and Manufacturing activities within the Mylar EU business and the core responsibility is the maintenance and review of production cost activities on site at Dumfries.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze costs and production variances.
  • Aid in review and analysis of profitability and margin by product as required.
  • Prepare and assist in preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports to management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to develop annual operating plans.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly updates to stock valuation and input to SAP (Standard costing process) and perform Aged Stock/NRV review.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly outlook.
  • Daily cash postings for UK and Lux entities.
  • Month-end postings and maintenance (accruals/prepayments etc).
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required including support of Mylar Lux.

This role is key to Mylar UK’s Financial reporting by maintaining a high standard of data integrity and control.

Qualifications

Required Experience / Knowledge / Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Part qualification with experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Cost Accounting.
  • Proven record of ensuring accuracy of reporting through maintenance and review of data.
  • Able to collaborate with colleagues to investigate and resolve variances.
  • High attention to detail, efficient, communicative, innovative, and proactive.
  • Actively keeps stakeholders engaged and aware of activities and issues (plant and operations, finance).
  • Strong Analytical Skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint Skills.
  • Manage own projects.
  • Ability to adopt and initiate change.
  • Self-directed, ability to work under minimal supervision, self-starter, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
