Legal Aid Billing Coordinator / Costs Draftsperson

📍 Nottingham
💷 £35,000 - £50,000 DOE
🏢 Office-based initially | Hybrid Working Available Following Probation

A highly regarded and growing law firm specialising in family law is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join its Nottingham team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Aid billing professional looking to join a supportive, progressive firm with genuine long-term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, finalising and submitting Legal Aid and Legal Help bills
  • Managing Payments on Account (POA) applications
  • Handling VHCC billing matters
  • Working to Legal Aid KPIs and audit requirements
  • Liaising with courts, counsel and third parties regarding fees and disbursements
  • Chasing outstanding court orders and Legal Aid certificates
  • Ensuring bills are progressed efficiently and submitted within required timescales
  • Supporting the wider legal team with billing and administrative processes

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous Legal Aid billing and/or costs experience
  • A strong understanding of Family Legal Aid procedures
  • Working knowledge of CCMS
  • Experience managing billing targets and audit requirements
  • Good IT skills, including Excel
