Service Care Solutions are currently working alongside a reputable law firm based in Blackburn, who are seeking an experienced Costs Draftsman to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to take ownership of a varied caseload within a supportive legal environment.

Job Title: Costs Draftsman

Location: Blackburn (Office-Based/Hybrid – depending on firm requirements)

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 (DOE & interview performance)

Key Responsibilities as a Costs Draftsman

  • Drafting comprehensive Bills of Costs across a range of matters, including both fast-track and multi-track cases
  • Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies in line with procedural requirements
  • Assisting with the preparation of costs budgets (Precedent H) when required
  • Attending detailed assessment hearings where necessary
  • Providing guidance and strategic advice to fee earners on costs recovery
  • Ensuring all work complies with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant costs legislation
  • Managing your own caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are consistently met

About You as a Costs Draftsman

  • Proven experience working in a Costs Draftsman role
  • Strong working knowledge of CPR and costs-related procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise tasks
