Costume Designer / Stylist — Client Project
Aru Labs | Project-based opportunity
Aru Labs is looking for a Costume Designer / Stylist for an upcoming independent web-series project being produced for a client.
This is a project-based opportunity, not a permanent position at Aru Labs.
The series is a character-driven story exploring startups, ambition, relationships, friendship, money and life.
We're looking for someone who can use clothing and styling to make the characters feel authentic, contemporary and visually distinct.
What you'll do
- Work closely with the Director and Production Designer
- Develop the wardrobe direction for the main characters
- Create character-specific styling references and moodboards
- Plan outfits based on character personality, background and story progression
- Coordinate wardrobe for different scenes and locations
- Source, rent, purchase or coordinate clothing as required
- Maintain wardrobe continuity between scenes
- Prepare outfit options before filming
- Coordinate fittings with actors
- Work with the makeup and hair team where required
- Adapt wardrobe plans to different shooting locations and weather conditions

The styling should feel real rather than overly polished.
We want characters who look like people you might actually meet in Bengaluru, Mumbai, San Francisco, London or Bali.
What we're looking for
- Experience in costume design, styling, fashion, film, advertising, editorial or content
- Strong understanding of contemporary fashion and character styling
- Good eye for color, silhouette and visual identity
- Ability to create distinctive looks without unnecessary spending
- Strong sourcing and coordination skills
- Comfortable working with a lean independent production
Film or web-series experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
Working arrangement
- Remote: Yes, during pre-production
- Travel: Required during production where applicable
- Engagement: Project-based / contract
- Production window: Late November – early December
- Potential locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bali and other global creative and startup hubs
- International and India-based candidates are welcome.

Ideal candidate
You might be a good fit if you:
- Understand how clothing communicates personality
- Can make characters feel different without making them look like costumes
- Have a strong contemporary fashion sense
- Know how to work with limited production resources
- Are comfortable sourcing clothing quickly
- Care about continuity and small visual details
- Enjoy working closely with actors and creative teams
