Role Overview

This very well-regarded international law firm is seeking a Counsel or Partner to join its highly regarded Leveraged Finance team in Manchester.

About the Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a leading role in the continued growth of one of the UK's most well-known law firms, advising an impressive client base of credit funds, private equity sponsors, borrowers, and financial institutions on complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on Financing Transactions: Advise on complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions.
  • Building Client Relationships: Develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Collaborative Work Environment: Work alongside market-leading lawyers across various finance teams.
  • Shaping Strategic Direction: Contribute to the strategic direction of the practice and the growth of the firm's credit fund offering.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant Experience: Extensive experience advising credit funds operating in the mid-market.
  • Technical Strength: Strong track record in leveraged acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalisations, and general corporate lending transactions.
  • Commercial Mindset: Commercially minded and technically strong.
  • Leadership Skills: Confident in leading transactions and building client relationships.

Collaborative Environment

As part of a collaborative national finance practice, you will work alongside market-leading lawyers across banking, private equity, restructuring, and corporate teams, with access to an established client base and a significant pipeline of high-quality work.

Desired Attributes

  • Extensive Leveraged Finance Experience: Gained at a leading national or international law firm.
  • Strong Expertise: Advising credit funds and other alternative lenders in the mid-market.
  • Experience in Complex Transactions: Leading complex financing transactions from inception through to completion.
  • Technical, Commercial, and Client Relationship Skills: Excellent skills in these areas.
  • Collaborative Approach: A desire to contribute to business development and team growth.
