Company Description
That Happiness Project is a mental health initiative focused on making counselling and therapy accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds and financial means. The organization has supported over 2,000 clients across multiple countries and delivered more than 200 workshops, primarily for schools, NGOs, and NPOs. Originating from a year-long commitment to pro bono services, the project is grounded in the belief that mental well-being is a basic right. Building on successful collaborations in India, That Happiness Project now partners with freelance counsellors and therapists to serve individual clients and reach a broader segment of society. The organization continues to collaborate with mental wellness centers and social impact organizations to promote personal well-being and good mental health.
Role Description
The Counselling/Therapy Trainee role is a remote internship focused on supporting mental health services and psychoeducational initiatives. Trainees will assist with conducting intake interviews, maintaining client records, and supporting online counselling or therapy sessions under supervision. They will help design and facilitate mental health workshops, support outreach programs for schools and NGOs, and contribute to resources such as worksheets, presentations, and social media content related to mental health. Day-to-day tasks include research on psychological topics, preparing case notes, coordinating with partner organizations, and participating in regular supervision or team meetings. Trainees are expected to maintain ethical standards, respect client confidentiality, and show sensitivity to diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge in psychology, counselling, or social work, with ongoing or completed formal education (e.g., bachelor’s or master’s program) in a related field.
- Strong active listening, empathy, and rapport-building abilities, with a client-centered and non-judgmental approach.
- Capacity to conduct basic research, prepare case notes, and document sessions clearly and accurately.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, supervisors, and partner organizations in online settings.
- Comfort using digital tools and online platforms (video conferencing, forms, shared documents) for remote counselling and workshop delivery.
- Awareness of ethical guidelines in mental health practice, including confidentiality, boundaries, and referral processes.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, meet timelines, and participate consistently in supervision.
- Interest or prior exposure to community mental health, social impact work, or supporting under-resourced populations is highly beneficial.
