Job Title: Counselling Tutor – Level 4
Reports to: Educational Programme Manager
Location: Our practice is based in Croydon. Teaching will be held at our venue in Addiscombe Croydon. There will also be requirements for some hybrid work especially during the preparation stages and student interviews.
Days: The course will be delivered in person (Wednesday and/or Friday or weekday evenings and Saturday). Preparation and marking will be required outside of this.
Pay: £265 per day, inclusive of marking and preparation.
Purpose of the Role
Care To Listen School of Counselling deliver a wide range of counselling courses to students and practitioners and require sessional tutors who can deliver Level 4 Diploma with enthusiasm. This role would suit someone who is passionate about training counsellors and has experience of counselling practice, teaching and delivering change in a learning context. The postholder should be exceptionally well-organised and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

- Provide effective and responsive teaching (to the qualification specification) to enable all students to meet the standard requirements for the Level 4 Diploma in Counselling.
- Assess students work in a timely manner, providing appropriate and constructive feedback.
- Attend staff meetings and CPCAB standardisation meetings and other CPCAB events as required.
- Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Provide support to students (emails/tutorials/one to one meetings) where required.
- Provide timely and effective feedback to students following any practical skills or that’s required for their student portfolio.
- Participate in the internal moderation and verification process.
- Liaise with the Educational Programme Manager, admin staff, other tutors and internal and external verifiers as required.
- Adopt procedures and practices to create safe working environments and enforce any health and safety standards in the area of work, ensuring all learners understand and comply.
- Ensure teaching areas are left clean and tidy and promote a safe, secure and friendly teaching environment.
- Ensure that any Care To Listen School of Counselling equipment and materials are treated with respect and used only by classes for which they are intended for.

Person Specification and Qualifications Required
- 420 hours therapeutic counselling qualification at level 4 or above
- At least 10 hours of personal therapy
- A member of a professional association for counselling or psychotherapy (e.g BACP or similar)
- 30 hours per year of CPD activities and personal development
- A current practitioner with 2 years’ supervised counselling practice or minimum 450 counselling hours
- Supervision qualification or 1 year experience of providing supervision to groups or individuals in a counselling setting
- Teaching qualification plus 2 years teaching and assessing at level 2 and 3 or above
- Proven experience in adult education or relevant experience in leading groups of adults effectively.
- Have experience of delivering innovative, creative and engaging lessons, that encourage learners to understand the course material.
- Be prepared to reflect on, develop and improve their own teaching practice if required.
- Experience of working effectively using online course folders and e-portfolios.
- Good proficiency in IT
- To take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who might be affected by their work
