Job Title

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Counsellor/Psychological Practitioner to join our specialist Renal Psychology Service, which sits within the wider Clinical Health Psychology Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team supporting adults living with chronic kidney disease, dialysis treatment, kidney transplantation, and associated adjustment and coping difficulties. The post has been developed in recognition of the increasing psychological needs of renal patients and our commitment to delivering person-centred care in line with national commissioning standards.

The successful candidate will contribute to the assessment and delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions for patients experiencing emotional distress related to their renal condition, treatment burden, adjustment to illness, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and end-of-life concerns.

The post holder will join a supportive and compassionate multi-professional renal service and work closely with the Band 8b Lead and Assistant Psychologist, to deliver a high-quality specialist psychological service to renal patients and their family, carers, and the wider renal MDT.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
